Kev Warburton obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K.  His research background includes work in three main areas: aquatic ecology (especially population dynamics, habitat use and restoration biology), animal behaviour (especially fish foraging, predator avoidance, competitive interactions and learning) and fisheries biology (especially stock assessment of commercial fish and crustaceans).  Research projects have involved freshwater and marine fish, crayfish, crabs, freshwater and marine prawns, squid, zooplankton and insects.  Research and consultancy activities have also focussed on community engagement to build capacity for the collaborative management of freshwater systems.
